Creating Your Moving Checklist
22Apr 2015

If you’re worried about upcoming house removals or office removals then there are lots of things that you can do to make sure you’re ready on the big day. Creating a moving checklist is the best way for you to prepare yourself and your home for what is often considered to be one of the most stressful things a person can do. If you want to stay efficient, calm and ready for anything when you move, here’s how you can do it by creating your own checklist.

1)    Creating a packing plan.
Creating a packing plan is an excellent way for you to tackle one of the most time-consuming parts of moving. Packing up your home or office, no matter how big or small it might be, is a huge job, and having a plan in place will ensure that you get everything done in plenty of time. Start by deciding which rooms of your home to pack first – ideally these should be the rooms or areas  that are least-used, as it means you won’t need to tear open boxes to look for something that you need yet accidentally packed. Make a list of the order in which you want to pack your home, and then try dividing your items into piles of importance. Start by packing the least-important and least-used items, and save the rest for a later date. There will be some things you’ll be unable to pack until the night before moving, so try listing these things out so that they won’t be forgotten. Set yourself daily or weekly packing goals that are realistic and that you can stick to, so that you can be packed up in an efficient and timely manner.

2)    Your shopping list.
You might need to buy a few things for your move, so add a shopping list to your moving checklist. Consider things such as packing materials, boxes, packing tape, marker pens and perhaps even cleaning supplies for your end-of-lease cleaning. Try to source the items you need plenty of time before moving day to avoid having to rush.

3)    Planning for moving day.
Make a list of what you want to happen on moving day, when you can arrive at your new home, when your removal company is expected to arrive, what needs to be packed last-minute and try to plan your furniture removals too. Try to create a realistic timeframe for each job that needs to get completed, so that if one task takes a little too long, it will still be easy to stick to the plan.

4)    Hiring house movers.
Hiring the help of a professional removal company is an excellent way for you to ensure that you have a stress-free move. Have a look online, in your local newspaper, or try speaking to friends and family to learn about companies and removal services in your area. You’ll easily find a van, man with a van service or teams of movers who can help you when you move, and you can find excellent prices if you shop around for the best deals. Even small removals jobs can benefit from the help of the experts, so have a look to find out about experienced and reliable companies in your area. Make sure to look at company reviews and customer comments to find the right choice for you.
